News:Mythic Merges Servers at WAR

If you haven’t noticed, the MMO Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning has been losing their players after barely three months of the launch of the game last September 2008 due to the release of the much-awaited third installment of the MMO giant, World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King (abbreviated to WoW:WotLK). As of now, figures are down to 300,000 subscribers and the servers are looking more like a desert than a world of chaos (which the game was supposed to deliver).

During the past few months, Mythic has been trying to regain their players with anything from the Night of Murder last February, the free one year subscription plan for every friend you bring to the game, and let’s not forget that awfully desperate move on the creation of two classes just after two months of the release of the game. This time however, Mythic is finally planning to merge the servers together, which also means closing down more than 60 servers and transferring players to populate the remaining servers.

This is actually very good news for the game since the main problem was the lack of population on the servers because, aside from the fact that WAR players went back to playing WoW because of the new expansion after its release, the game was basically deserted everywhere you go. Not only would this help the population problem of the game, it would want other people to join in again and give the game another shot. Hopefully it works out for Mythic this time round.

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning is developed by Mythic Entertainment. It was in development for 3 years, earning several awards in between including Beckett Massive Online Game Reader’s Choice Award: Most Anticipated MMO. It was released worldwide last September 18, 2008, two months before the release of WoW: WotLK. Due to the anticipation of the game and the clamor for it, Mythic resorted to creating too many servers which is now the cause of their own downfall.
